What are your views on PDA? Not as a diagnosis but as a symptom of both ADHD and Autism. I don't like the word 'pathological', but I definitely experience demand avoidance.

Neurodivergent demand avoidance is not the same as PDA. PDA applies to internal demands such as "I have to go to the bathroom" or "I'm hungry and should eat." Those demands set off a physiologically measurable nervous system response (i.e., increased heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating), not just mental resistance.

That being clarified, demand avoidance is REAL. For example, when I'm told "you should read [this book]" or "watch [this movie], it's amazing!" my brain's immediate reaction is "NO!" Even things I want to do will take me days to months to incorporate into my day because my brain resists changing my current routine or activities to make room for the new thing. Demand avoidance is absolutely a symptom that many ADHD (and autistic) people have. And willpower alone most often won't overcome it.
